Encrypted MPLS
NetworkFlow Encrypted MPLS is designed to provide very high security Wide Area Networks that are easy to install, easy to manage, cost-effective and support the rich functionality you would expect from conventional NetworkFlow MPLS.
MPLS has long been the WAN technology of choice for medium to large organisations and NetworkFlow MPLS has a rich set of features including Resilience, QoS, Virtualised Internet Leased Lines, Virtualised ISDN and high bandwidths - all offered at low cost. Although MPLS is inherently secure some organisations (including Financial Institutions and Local Government), operate within stringent regulations, defining parameters regarding the security of data links, including encryption, that need to be met.
Traditionally organisations requiring very high-security WAN's have added Firewalls behind the MPLS routers and have setup IP/SEC VPN tunnels over the MPLS. These VPN tunnels remove much of the flexibility and functionality of MPLS and significantly increase the complexity of implementation and ongoing management. The operation of Voice over IP across a multi-site WAN using Firewall based VPN tunnels becomes particularly difficult.
NetworkFlow Encrypted MPLS removes the requirement for individual Firewalls and provides a similar level of highly secure encryption without the use of point to point VPN tunnels. All data is encrypted before leaving the site on special high performance hardware. As only the data payload is encrypted, routing and the QoS information remains unaltered. The MPLS network operates with the same high levels of resilience and functionality as a conventional NetworkFlow MPLS network.
NetworkFlow Encrypted MPLS is based on the internationally ratified security standard ITEF RFC 3547, GDOI.
